Another Halloween night has come and gone. After spending the last few weeks getting costumes together I will definitely enjoy the break. I have this strange need to make our kids costumes, don’t ask me why I really don’t know the answer!
This year 11 yr old Saxon, who is very interested in tactical war fair and strategy, decided he needed a ghillie suit so he could be a swamp monster. Well wouldn’t you know we couldn’t get one here in time so there I was hand making his costume for another year. I have to say though it was one of my better ones for sure. The callus on my finger tells the tale well.
My 8 yr old daughter Aurora really wanted to be a spider, and just to wear her friends costume from last year. Woohoo less work for me. Ya, right….. Turns out the costume just fit, no room for extra clothing or snow gear. Did I mention that up here we plan costumes so they fit over snow gear? Yes that means Halloween night is often spent trecking through the snow. Anyway, that meant mommy was having to make another spider costume that would be considerably warmer.
In the end, we had two great kids in two great costumes trick or treating on a gorgeous evening, even if there was snow on the ground.
Happy Halloween everyone.
